Lower orange river diamonds JV

Quantum Earth (Pty) Ltd through its operating subsidiary Zenyth (Pty) Ltd has entered into a JV agreement with Lower Orange River Diamonds (LOR). LOR is a 100% BEE female owned company operated a mining right of 41 334 hectares encompassing more than 60km of modern and paleo Orange River flow channels. The mine is well known in the international gem diamond market for its large, high quality gem diamonds which have become a recognised brand for high quality stones marketed to a selective buyer market. The mine has operated continuously with only small periods of interruption since the 1950’s and continues to operate with remaining diamond gravel Reserves in excess of 25Mt.

Current operations mine both virgin ground on the well established brownfield mining site and also treat low grade stockpiles as part of an ongoing environmental rehabilitation and void reclamation program. Current operations generate in excess of 500,000 tons per month of fine sediment residue which have been found to contain heavy minerals ranging from 0.5% – 4% Total Heavy Minerals (THM). Zenyth’s tests of 0m-65m thick overburden sediments overlying the diamond rich basal gravels have also been shown to yield 0.5% – 3% THM.

Quantum Earth has focussed its current operations at the Baken Mine site on LOR where it is completing the establishment of a well equipped, bespoke heavy mineral sands evaluation laboratory due for commissioning in January 2026.

In addition to the heavy mineral potential of unconsolidated sediments at LOR, Zenyth has also recognised very prospective bedrock geology that includes historical records showing hard rock occurrences of Cu, Au, Ag, Zn, Fl, Pb, P, REE, U, Th, Ta, Nb, Li, W. Historic underground mining of separate deposits of copper and phosphate on LOR’s boundaries in the 1800’s beer testimony to the bedrock mineral potential of this district scale opportunity. Zenyth will undertake systematic exploration for of all of these minerals as part of its JV with LOR.
